Celebrating our phenomenal volunteers this International Volunteer Day 2024
5 December is International Volunteer Day 2024
On this day, the United Nations pays tribute each year to volunteers all around the world - and we take this chance to say thank you to our Together Trust volunteers, too.
"On International Volunteer Day, we pay tribute to volunteers around the world—Let us recognize their contributions, onsite or online, for every act of service counts."
We at Together Trust would like to reiterate that sentiment. Every one of our volunteers regularly contributes acts of kindness to make a difference to the children, young people, and adults that we all support.
Thanks to them so generously giving up their time and expertise (this year alone they have collectively given over 3000 hours, made up of almost 1500 individual volunteering sessions), many of those people have been able to experience more, learn more, and enjoy life even more than they would have without them.
The United Nations recognises volunteers as playing a huge part in delivering on its Sustainable Development Goals, amongst which are:
- Good Health & Wellbeing
- Quality Education
- Reduced Inequalities
Each of our volunteers have most certainly helped to make an impact on those goals for the people they have supported across Together Trust this year.
Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General's has this to say about International Volunteer Day 2024:
"On this International Volunteer Day, the global community celebrates and honours the tireless dedication of volunteers worldwide. From addressing multifaceted global crises to supporting individuals in need, volunteerism embodies a spirit of solidarity, resilience, and compassion that our world so deeply needs."
We couldn’t agree more! By doing what they do, our volunteers remind us that there is far more good in this world than bad.
Alongside the teams they are part of, they give the children, young people, and adults we support inspiration to make their own difference in the world. Their input contributes to reducing anxiety, enriches their education, and enables them to access facilities and social activities that they might otherwise struggle to get to.
We hope they are proud of what they do. Because we most certainly are very proud of them, and grateful for all that they do.
From all of us at Together Trust, Happy International Volunteer Day! Thank you.
