Bridge College students embark on an unforgettable residential adventure
The residential trip to Dukes Barn in Matlock was nothing short of spectacular. Every moment was filled with excitement!
Bridge College learners arrived at Dukes Barn on the sunny afternoon of Friday, 7 June. The students eagerly unpacked the buses and settled into their cosy dorm rooms, ready for the adventure ahead.
Friday evening was a whirlwind of fun and camaraderie. A group of students donned their chef hats to whip up a delicious dinner, offering a choice between a savoury curry and tasty wraps. The evening buzzed with energy as students played a lively game of rounders outside, challenged each other to play pool, enjoyed a movie night, and indulged in the classic campfire experience with marshmallows and music. For the truly adventurous, three students even camped out in tents under the starry sky.
Saturday began bright and early at 7 am with a hearty breakfast to fuel the day's activities. The group then embarked on a short drive to Tapton Lock, where the real thrill began. Students took to the water, canoeing up Chesterfield Canal, and the excitement was palpable. All students and staff revelled in the exhilarating experience!
On the way back to Dukes Barn, some students made a pit stop at the supermarket to gather ingredients for a scrumptious lunch. After a satisfying meal, it was time to tidy up, pack the buses, and head back to college, hearts full and spirits high.
This residential trip was more than just an outing; it was a fantastic opportunity for our students to step out of their comfort zones, try new things, and forge lasting bonds with their peers. An unforgettable experience that will be cherished for years to come!
