Tune in tomorrow to hear us on BBC 5 Live!
Tomorrow (Thursday 22 February), the Together Trust will be featured on BBC 5 Live in a special broadcast focused on the crucial topic of "What comes after education for disabled young people?".
Listen to the broadcast here between 4 pm – 6 pm on 22 February (exact timings depend on the day).
This coverage shines a light on the experiences of young people and their families as they navigate life after education and promotes the research we are conducting in partnership with National Star, a charity based in Gloucestershire.
Key highlights include an interview with the Children’s Commissioner for England by National Star student Laith, and a compelling story from a parent navigating the post-16 landscape.
The broadcast also features interim findings from our two surveys for parents and carers and young people which will run until 16 March 2024. These include:
- 1 in 3 young people expressing worry about leaving education.
- 75% of parents and carers saying that all organisations did not work well together throughout transition planning.
- 60% of young people felt their voices were heard in the planning process.
- Only 21% of parents and carers were clear on the transition process as their child exited education.
Both surveys are still open. Please continue to share them within your networks:
- The survey for students is designed to be user-friendly, allowing responses in both written and verbal formats. You can access it here.
- The parents and carers survey can be accessed here.
This broadcast is a fantastic opportunity for us to raise awareness of young people’s experience and our work in this area.
We hope you can join us and listen to the live broadcast!
