Students showcase musical accomplishments at the Lowry
Pupils from 11 specialist educational settings across Greater Manchester and Cheshire joined forces at the Lowry Theatre to stage the annual Together Trust's Music and Performing Arts Festival last month.
Hosted by the leading disability charity in the North West, the Together Trust, the music extravaganza saw pupils performing contemporary music and songs to friends, family and members of the public. One of the pupils representing Inscape House School for autistic children and young people shares:
The concert showcased a selection of songs, including: "Oom-Pah-Pah", appearing in the 1960 musical "Oliver!", "A Million Dreams" from the film "The Greatest Showman" (2017), "See See Rider" by Elvis Presley, "Set Fire To The Rain" by Adele, "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift and many more. Sara Bayley, Executive Head of Education Services at the Together Trust, says:
"Congratulations, and thank you to all for a wonderful music and performance event at The Lowry Theatre. It was such a fantastic opportunity for our budding stars to sing, dance and make music in a beautiful theatre and on a real stage."
The Together Trust's children and young people from Ashcroft School, Bridge College and Inscape House School performed alongside peers from Ansar Projects School, Brentwood School and Community College, Elms Bank School, Pictor Academy, Piper Hill High School, Green Fold Special School, Newlands School, Rowan Tree Primary School.
"Performers and the audience enjoyed the event equally, and it was lovely to take part in it alongside other local special needs schools and colleges. It brought our community closer together, which is always heart-warming," concludes Sara Bayley.
