Ex-Inscape student thriving in the IT world
We love hearing from people we have supported in the past who are now thriving in the world of work. One such example is J, who previously attended Inscape House School and is now progressing in his career and life!
J did not always have the focus and determination to work towards gaining employment in the world of IT. He arrived at Inscape as a shy and reserved young man that struggled to access activities with his peers. It was not always an easy road for J, yet he proceeded to develop a maturity and resilience whilst studying in Inscape's post 16 provision and gained a greater depth of independence and a deep ambition to succeed. He took every opportunity to develop his independence and ICT skills within the school and he accessed an IT course at Salford City College and he politely pestered staff to enrol him on bespoke IT courses that enabled him to develop his skills in key areas of interest.
On leaving Inscape J secured an apprenticeship with an IT company and although this went well initially J was furloughed and then made redundant. J met with Richard, a member of staff from Inscape, along with his mum via video link on the in February as he wanted to share some great news.
J explained that it had been a difficult year losing his job and that he had accessed many interviews with limited luck. However, J was thrilled to announce that he had secured a position within an IT company and. He started working there back in February this year and hasn't look back since. Mum and J have always spoken highly of the support that J received at Inscape and how his experiences and the support from Inscape during the many ups and downs have made him stronger and more resilient.
J wanted to share his story to help other young people with ASC to understand that you should not give up when life gets tough and that you just need to look for the positives and keep on trying.
