Soaring to new heights: trio’s daring wing walk for Pearce Lodge
In a wonderful effort to raise funds for Pearce Lodge, a community service of the Together Trust charity, Team Leader Shana Gilbert, her partner Matt, and her mother Lorraine embarked on an exhilarating wing walk adventure this June.
Their heartfelt mission is to transform the garden at Pearce Lodge into an accessible, sensory-friendly area, offering a tranquil outdoor space for residents to bask in the sunlight and engage their senses.
Shana shared that participating in the wing walk was an extraordinary experience:
“We all had such an amazing experience taking part in the wing walk! My mum, Lorraine, was quite nervous on the day, but she did it and thoroughly enjoyed it. She said it was one of the best things she has done and is happy she can tick it off her bucket list. Myself and Matt were surprisingly calm but both said that it was a really strange feeling at take off, as you’re normally sat inside the plane, not strapped to the wings!”
“I loved the whole experience, the feeling of just flying through the sky was so surreal and you could see for miles, it was breathtaking! It was a different experience from a skydive. The wing walking team were all such friendly people, which helped us feel relaxed about it all. I would honestly recommend that everyone give it a go, you’ll love it!”
The result of the trio’s courageous endeavour was a resounding success, surpassing their initial target of £500 by raising a total of £615.
