New research published in January: What comes after education?
Two years ago, we joined forces with fellow charity National Star to improve the way young people with special education needs and disabilities are supported when they leave education.
We know that this period is crucial, and yet little is known about the views of young people and their families throughout this period of significant change. We want to change this.
From December 2023 until March 2024, we ran our ‘What comes after education?’ survey to capture their views and experiences.
Hundreds of young people, families and professionals shared their experiences with us. The results reveal the positives and negatives of what transition to adulthood looks like for many across the UK.
We’re excited to announce that, on 8 January 2025, we’re launching the results along with recommendations for the government, local authorities, education and social health care providers to take action and make lasting improvements. The report will give data led recommendations about how to make the system better for young people with disabilities.
