Inscape House School alumnus wins national design competition
An alumnus of one of our specialist schools for students with autism, Inscape House School, has won a national competition to design the LGBT+ History Month Badge for 2024.
The competition is organised by one of the oldest LGBT+ advocacy charities in the UK, Schools OUT. It encourages children and young people from 5 to 18 years to come up with an official badge for LGBT+ History Month every year.
Alex Gould’s winning design, featuring a love heart under a stethoscope, reflects the LGBT+ History Month theme in the UK this February - ‘Medicine – #UnderTheScope’.
“I am so pleased this design has won. I truly am over the moon.”
Alex left Inscape House School in 2023 and is currently doing an A-Level in Textiles and a GCSE in Graphic Communication at Pinc College, a specialist college for creative education.
About his involvement in the LGBT+ community whilst at school, Stéphane Maitrejean, Phase Leader - Champions & Explorers at Inscape House School, says:
“Alex benefited from access to our lunchtime club and from being able to speak with supportive staff and peers. He was heavily involved in all activities we planned - such as LGBT+ History Month events, our first Pride Parade or selecting inclusive books to add to our library collection.”
Alex’s winning entry is already available to purchase on pin badges and will be worn by thousands of people throughout February and beyond.
