Children and young people fill hearts with joy at Christmas carol concert
Over a hundred people joined at St Mary's Church in Cheadle on 12 December for the Together Trust's annual Christmas carol concert.
Parents, carers and staff were treated to well-known carols and performances by children and young people from the Together Trust's residential services and specialist educational provisions.
Led by Mark Tomlinson, Children's Outreach Worker at St Mary's Church, the evening began with a congregational carol - 'Once In Royal David's City'. It continued with some Christmas classics such as 'O Little Town of Bethlehem' and 'Silent Night', as well as more contemporary pieces - 'Feliz Navidad', 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' and 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas'.
"It was a beautiful evening. The children's participation was unbelievably special. The choice of carols was fantastic. It took me back to my childhood," shares Mandy S., Assistant Manager at Norvent, one of the Together Trust's residential homes.
To further the festive spirit, children, young people, and staff members read prayers and poems, capturing the essence of all the holiday cheer.
Helen Marston, Registered Manager at one of our short break services, concludes:
"We, at Woodlands, loved the event. It was very festive and so enjoyable to hear all the singing and readings from everyone. I personally loved the engagement and interaction from all the young people from the various homes, and I am so glad that this is a regular Together Trust event. Thanks to everyone for their hard work and commitment to organising this and making it such a successful evening."
Light refreshments and a charity stall followed the service.
