A call for the government to put children at the heart of their spending
We are joining 140+ organisations in a call to all political parties to put children and young people at the heart of this general election.
There are almost 14 million children in the UK but their voices are missing from the national conversation and far too little attention has been paid to their needs, particularly those of the most vulnerable. Instead, the debate on Brexit means the issues affecting children are being crowded out of the national debate.
The open letter calls on all political leaders to set out their solutions to the pressing issues facing children and young people, including child poverty, mental health, domestic abuse and serious youth violence.
Mark Lee, chief executive of the Together Trust said: “The people we support tell us they face daily discrimination, hardship and barriers. As a leading disability charity in the North West, we have joined this call so we continue our promise to champion the rights, needs and ambitions of the people we support.”
You can show your support on social media using the hashtag #ChildrenAtTheHeart.
Children and young people are joining our call and raising their voices on social media, using the hashtag #IfIWerePM to share their priorities for the next Government.
