Bridge College welcomes in the year of the Rabbit
The date of Chinese New Year changes every year, but it always falls between 21 January and 20 February. The day of the Chinese New Year is a new moon day, usually the second after the winter solstice. This year it was on 22 January 2023.
In the morning, learners took part in a dragon parade around the college corridors. Mansoor led the parade holding the dragon's head. Everyone followed behind in one big conga line parading around the college drumming. There was a great atmosphere.
During the afternoon, learners ran various table activities in the refectory. The students designed the activities, including making Chinese symbols and writing names in sand, Chinese New Year bingo, and making animal masks.
There was a raffle with prizes to win and animal races that related to the Chinese zodiac.
Students also organised and made Chinese food for their peers to try. Everyone absolutely loved the spring rolls, prawn crackers and fortune cookies.
We’re incredibly proud of all the learners that made the day such a success.
