Bridge College students shine at Indoor Rowing Competition
The event, held at Oldham Sports for All Centre as part of the Greater Manchester School Games SEND Secondary Schools and Colleges Rowing competition, saw commendable participation from our team.
A big round of applause goes to Hanzala, Usman, Nabeel, Maria, Safa, Chandani, Sigad, and Aristhote for their enthusiastic involvement.
The inclusive nature of indoor team rowing caters to both SEND and non-SEND pupils, providing opportunities for those who may face barriers in accessing mainstream rowing competitions. This includes students who can row less than 300 meters in a minute. Teams, comprising a blend of SEND and non-SEND athletes, compete against others of similar abilities, with each competition featuring at least two teams.
Our students truly excelled in the competition. Initially, individual races set the stage for thrilling performances. Among the boys, Sigad secured the top spot, followed by Hanzala in second and Aristhote in third. Among the girls, Safa claimed second place, closely followed by Chandani in third. Remarkable achievements indeed!
The excitement continued with relay races, where teamwork took centre stage. Safa, Hanzala, Aristhote, and Sigad formed an impressive relay team, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and clinching victory in their race!
Reflecting on the day, Sports Coach Chloe expressed delight, saying,
“We all had a fantastic day! It's inspiring to witness our students embracing new challenges and showcasing their competitive spirit. We're incredibly proud of their achievements!”
