Bridge College celebrates International Dance Day
This event not only highlights the joy and cultural significance of dance but also emphasises its potential for economic growth and its underappreciated value in some political and institutional spheres.
The students at Bridge College were eager to participate in the festivities. The day began with an energetic Zumba session led by Hannah, a returning instructor who had previously visited for International Women's Day. Hannah is notably the first and only official Zumba instructor with Down Syndrome, and her return was met with great enthusiasm by the students. Her presence is a profound source of inspiration, as she exemplifies how individuals can excel and lead in their field.
In the afternoon, the celebrations continued with a dance workshop hosted by Julie from Synergy Dance. The workshop provided an immersive experience into the world of dance, exploring various rhythms, beats, and music from across the globe. Students engaged in creative movement exercises and capped off the workshop by learning a dance routine to Shakira’s "Waka Waka."
Reflecting on the day, Sarah Jenkinson, Bridge Tutor remarked,
“Overall a super fun, energetic and dance-filled day to celebrate International Dance Day!"
The day not only provided a platform for students to express themselves through dance but also reinforced the importance of dance as a powerful medium for cultural expression and fun!
