Amaretti Chamber Orchestra enchant with a musical performance in aid of the Together Trust
On Saturday afternoon, 3 February, around 270 people, including 65 children, experienced Prokofiev's timeless tale of 'Peter and the Wolf' at St Andrew's Church in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, from the Amaretti Chamber Orchestra.
Narrated by local award-winning CHADS actor Richard Sails, with various instruments in the orchestra depicting the different characters in the story, the concert was organised in support of the Together Trust.
"We chose the Together Trust because we wanted to support a local charity that looks after children and their families,” shares Brigid Hemingway, Founder and Leader of the Amaretti Chamber Orchestra.
The fundraising concert, supported by local businesses Daisies Floral Design and Speedy Print, and sponsored by Dr Downing Music, raised a total of £1600 to support children, young people and adults with disabilities, autism and special health needs across the North West.
A spectator shares: "I very much enjoyed the concert, especially the 3pm start. I noticed that all the babies were alert and in tune with the music, they were having a wonderful time. Good work."
The programme also included Beethoven's violin concerto with virtuoso soloist Nathan Fenwick, performed in the second half.
The Amaretti Chamber Orchestra previously supported the Together Trust in 2011 and has raised over £53,000 for local charities since 2004.
